AnswerStore-based Retailing: Involves fixed shops for storing and selling products. These shops are physically available to consumers to get the products as per their requirements. The following are different types of retail stores:
Discount Store: Refers to a store that has a large volume of products and offers goods and commodities at a lower price than many other retail stores. A discount store sells products at low costs; therefore, has a low profit margin. These types of stores are often able to discount their prices due to effective distribution methods. Few of these stores are also chain stores which include Big Bazaar, Walmart, Target and K-Mart.
Supermarket: Refers to a store that keeps low-cost products in large volumes. It satisfies the demand for
food and household products. For example, Food Bazaar, Easy Day, Spencers, Kroger and Safeway sell a variety of household products.
Departmental Store: Keeps a large number of product lines. For  example, Sears keeps Craftsman tools, Kenmore appliances, tires, Mowers and much more. Similarly, Shoppers Stop keeps the products of different brands.
Convenience Store: These are the small stores that stocks products of everyday need close to the location of customers. It is a small store that is generally located in residential areas. For example, Reliance Fresh, Twenty Four Seven, More and so on.
Specialty Store: Contains limited product lines of specific brands, such as Woodland and Nike.
Off-price Retailer: Collects the leftover products and sells them at a lesser cost as compared to other retailers. For example, TJ Maxx, Sam’s Club, Costco and Big Bazaar.
Superstore: Occupies huge space and deals in food products and household products. It also provides services, such as product repair and dry cleaning. The examples of superstores are Staples and Home Depot.
Catalogue Showroom: Deals in fast-moving brands at high mark-up prices. It sells products through catalogues. For example, Avon, Amway, and Tupperware.
Non-store-based Retailing: Does not involve any physical space for selling or purchasing products. Non-store-based retailing includes:
 Direct Selling: Involves selling products through a network of selling agents. For example, Amway, Eureka Forbes, Avon and Tupperware.
 Direct Marketing: Refers to a type of non-store-based retailing in which products are sold to customers through Internet, telephone, or television.
For example, Amazon.com and Indiatimes.com.
 Automatic Vending: Refers to machines that are used to sell tea coffee and deliver cash. For example, Automated Teller Machine is a vending machine.
